The Generals traveled to New Jersey to take on the Titans in a two game series over the weekend, walking away with the sweep thanks to back-to-back 4-2 wins on Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27.

Game one started off with a bang for the orange and blue, with forwards Levente Pakozdi and Matej Zivcak scoring their 10th and sixth goals of the season respectively early in the first, with Pakozdi finding the net on the penalty kill for the short handed goal first. The Titans responded soon after Zivcak’s goal late in the first, putting the game at 2-1 after one. Forward Reese Tamburo continued his strong stretch with the Generals, scoring late in the second in what stood as the game winning goal. Forward Connor McLachlan gave the Generals some insurance with a goal half way through the third, before the Titans scored three minutes later to bring it to 4-2. The Generals fought off the Titans’ late comeback try, ending the game still at 4-2.

Goaltender Mike Foglia got the start in net, batting away 22 of 24 shots in his 11th win of the year. Pakozdi recorded a two point night with his goal and an assist, with eight different Generals recording a point on the stat sheet.

Saturday night saw the Generals go down early in game two to the Titans, with back-to-back powerplay goals in the first giving the red and silver the 2-0 lead. Neither team could find the back of the net for the entire second period, before the Generals offense sprung to life in the third. Forward Michael Locke got the Gens on the board two minutes into the third, before forwards Tamburo and Sean Gorman gave Northeast the tying and go ahead goals respectively. Locke scored the insurance empty netter for his second of the evening, putting his total at 10 on the year, and putting the final score at 4-2.

Goaltender Ian Kangas made 25 saves on the 27 shots he faced in a sturdy outing, while Locke recorded a point on each goal by the Generals on the night. Gorman also recorded two assists along with his goal, and defenseman Garret Greenwood recorded two assists.

The Generals will split their next weekend between road and home games, playing the Norwich Sea Captains on the road on Friday, Feb. 2 at 12:00 PM EST, before arriving back home on Saturday, Feb. 3 to host the Sea Captains for the final time in the regular season at 8:30 PM EST. The Generals will only play two more road games after the Sea Captains’ series for the rest of the regular season.
