Generals sweep home series against Norwich, Long Beach

The Generals got the win streak rolling again in the month of November, sweeping their
home series with victory’s over the Norwich Sea Captains, Friday, Nov. 17, 5-0, and a sweep of
the Long Beach Sharks on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19, 2-1 and 3-2 respectively.

The Generals showed dominance against a tough Sea Captains squad on Friday, jumping
ahead early thanks to forward Sean Gorman’s 12th goal of the season in the first to make it 1-0.
Northeast piled on in the second, with goals by Matej Zivcak, his fourth, and Anthony Nuzolilo,
his third, to make it 3-0 through two. Defenseman John Rodgers started the third with a
powerplay goal, his third of the year and first at home, and forward Nick Summers topped off the
night with his seventh goal of the season to give the Generals the 5-0 victory. Goaltender Danny
Antal stood tall in net for his third shutout this season, stopping all 26 shots he saw.

Long Beach arrived for the first time to the NESV this season on Saturday, and kept the
contests close. Forward Connor McLachlan started the scoring the first with his sixth of the
season, before the Sharks responded right back 12 minutes later to make it 1-1. Nuzolilo played
hero once more for the Generals, scoring the go ahead goal on a five-on-three powerplay to jump
ahead 2-1, which stood till the final horn sounded. Goaltender Mike Foglia stopped 26 of 27
shots he faced in the win.

Sunday’s matchup saw the Sharks jump ahead early in the first to make it 1-0, even with
Northeast outshooting the Sharks 20-6. Nuzolilo collected his third goal of the weekend to tie the
match up early in the second while shorthanded. Forward Gabe Vijuk grew his goal lead on the
Generals with a redirect nine minutes later to jump ahead 2-1, his 15th of the season. Long
Beach scored late into the third to knot the contest up once more, before forward Reese Tamburo,
the newcomer from the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks, potted his first goal in a Generals jersey with less
than four minutes remaining to jump ahead 3-2. Northeast was able to fend off the Sharks till the
horn to complete the sweep of the weekend. Antal swatted away 23 of the 25 shots he faced in
the win.

The Generals will finish up the month of November with a trip to the RoseGarden Ice
Arena to take on the Sea Captains on the road, Tuesday, Nov. 21. The team will not be back in
action after that till Saturday, Dec. 2 when they visit the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings.
Their next home games will be Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9 against the New Jersey
Titans for a weekend series.
