The Northeast Generals have opened up with a solid start going 4-3 in their first 7 games. They key to their start has been timely saves, good team defense and a penalty kill that is 23/25. The Generals visited the undefeated Long Beach Sharks this past weekend for a 2 game set. The first game was a buckle your chin strap game with close to 200 penalty minutes. The Sharks proved why they were undefeated by turning it on and winning 6-4. Saturday was a different story. After falling behind early the Generals held a 4-3 lead late in the 3rd but the Sharks battled back and scored late in the game to tie it up. Overtime proved to be a battle as goaltender Pete Ciccarelli played very well and neither team was able to score. In the shootout the Generals struck first on a goal by Shawn Peckham, but the Sharks answered. Connor Davis was able to score the game winner in the extra round for the Generals win.
The upcoming weekend will be a tough test for the Generals as they get right back to it, hosting the Sharks in Canton on Friday night and then travel to Falmouth to take on rival (a team the Generals haven’t beaten yet) The Cape Cod Islanders.
