Nov 10, 2023

The Generals swept their way to first place in the East division this weekend, with home victories against the Norwich Sea Captains 5-4 Friday, Nov. 3, the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 5-1 on Saturday, Nov. 4, and the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings 3-2 on Sunday, Nov. 5.

Game one saw the Sea Captain’s jump on the Generals early, 3-1 through the first period, even after the Generals started the scoring early with forward Henry Wilson’s first goal in the NA3HL. The Generals tied it at 3-3 after the second period, but fell behind early in the third to make it 4-3. Forward Nicholas Summers then capitalized on two different opportunities late into the game to tie and then take the lead 5-4, which would stand until the final horn. Goaltender Danny Antal knocked down 32 of 36 shots in the win.

Saturday’s matchup was another offensive explosion for the Generals against the Jr. Hat Tricks, scoring three unanswered in the first and outshooting Danbury 20-6. A back and forth of goals in the second made it 4-1 after the second, before the Generals capped off the offensive showcase with another goal halfway through the third to make it 5-1, which stayed the final score. Forwards Dominic Toews, Levente Pakozdi, and Michael Locke all recorded multi point efforts, while goaltender Mike Foglia turned away 18 of 19 shots for the win.

The finale of the weekend was a close contest against the Jr. Mountain Kings, with New Hampshire scoring the loan goal in the first period to make it 1-0 after one. The Generals came out hot in the second period though, putting up three straight unanswered after scoring 12 seconds into the period and finding a short handed goal a minute in. The Jr. Mountain Kings brought it within one late in the third, but the Generals were able to fend off the rest of the time for the 3-2 victory. Antal would stop 31 of the 33 shots he faced for the victory.

The NA3HL team will be on the road on Wednesday, Nov. 8 to visit the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings, before returning back home for another matchup against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks on Friday, Nov. 10.
