Generals shutout Jr. Mountain Kings to start December

Dec 4, 2023

The Generals defense stood tall against the New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings on Saturday, Dec. 2, coming away with the victory to start the final month of 2023 with a 2-0 road victory.

Northeast started the game ahead early in their return to the Tri-Town Ice Arena, with forward Tyler Hague finding his second goal of the season 8:30 into the first period, after the initial shot by defensemen Drew Vermette was blocked in front, giving him the assist. Vermette returned back to the lineup for the first time since early November after an injury has kept him out of the line up.

Goaltending for New Hampshire and defense for Generals caused the game to stay at 1-0 affair for the majority of the match up, until the final period. Forward Michael Locke found his fourth of the season on the powerplay to make it a 2-0 game with 10:25 remaining in the game, cleaning up the rebound from forward Reese Tamburo. Northeast shutdown the Jr. Mountain Kings for the rest of the contest, keeping the score at 2-0 to give the Generals their 20th victory of the season.

Goaltender Daniel Antal picked up yet another shutout on the season, as the New Jersey native swallowed up all 18 shots he faced to record his fourth shutout. The Generals outshot the Jr. Mountain Kings 48-to-18 in the contest, including an 18-5 shot differential in the first period, as the offense continued for the Generals and the defense showed their muscles once again.

The Generals will travel back home for their next series of games, as the team will return to the New England Sports Village on Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9, where the New Jersey Titans will come to visit for both games. Northeast will have two more games after their home stand against New Jersey, a split of road and home games against the Norwich Sea Captains, before the NA3HL showcase in Blaine, Minnesota from December Sunday, Dec. 17 till Tuesday, Dec. 19.
