The Northeast Generals of the NA3HL are thrilled to announce that 3 year Forward Carson Asper has committed to play NCAA hockey for Arcadia University.
The 6’2″ 200lb Power Forward from Mechanicsburg, PA joined the Generals in 2018-2019. His style immediately made him a fan favorite. In his first year Carson played 36 games and had 17 goals, 16 assists for 33 points and being +22. But it was his physical play that made a huge mark. Carson ended the season with a franchise record 226 PIMS (career leader: 468 PIMS). Year 2 saw a calmer Asper on the ice and a more impactful player on the score sheet.
In 2019-2020 Asper broke out offensively. In 46 games Carson registered a staggering 51 goals and 52 assists for 103 points. His 103 points were good for 3rd in the league, trailing only his linemates (Kolye Bankauskas – UMASS Boston, Stephen Gerbis – Morrisville). It was the most prolific scoring line in NA3HL history and Carson created a ton of space for his teammates with his dominant physical play mixed with his slick skill and hammer of a shot. His play earned him a 4 game call up to the NAHL team. In 4 games he registered 3 assists and made an immediate impact. His performance was good enough to get Carson drafted in the NAHL for the 2020-21 season.
Carson started the 20-21 season with the NAHL Generals registering an assists in 9 games played. He joined the NA3HL Generals in early December and made an immediate impact. In just 12 games played he already has 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points.
For his Generals career Carson’s numbers are truly amazing: 110 games played, 87 goals, 88 assists for 175 points and a + 139. He ranks high in almost every statistical category for the NA3HL Generals. 2nd in career goals, 2nd in career points, 4th in career assists, 1st in PIM’s, 2nd in PPG.
“Carson knew after that first year that he had to calm down a bit with the physical stuff. It’s much easier to teach a kid to be less physical than it is to be more so. He put in so much work to keep getting better every year. And he has done that. You can see it with the numbers but more when you come to a game. Kids fear him and it opens up a ton of space for his skill to show. He is a guy we can’t wait to get back from injury to help make a run at the Fraser Cup this year. Incredibly happy for Carson and for Arcadia. It’s a great match and I think they will both have a ton of success.” Said Generals Head Coach Darryl Locke.
NAHL Head Coach Bryan Erikson said “So proud of Carson. He has grown up a ton with the Generals both on and off the ice. He has trusted Darryl and the process. He knew that no matter which team he was on he would improve and get to a school that was a great fit both academically and athletically. And he has done just that. He has committed to one of the top schools in the entire country for his major and gets to play for a man Vincent Pietrangelo who is a great person and Coach. Great day for Carson.”
Arcadia University will makes it’s NCAA debut in 2021-22. They will play in the UCHC. The UCHC is the top Division III hockey conference in the region. Other institutions in the conference include Chatham, Elmira, King’s, Lebanon Valley, Manhattanville, Nazareth, Neumann, Stevenson, Utica, and Wilkes.
Arcadia Head Coach Vincent Pietrangelo had this to say about Carson “I am beyond thrilled to have Carson be apart of our Inaugural class at Arcadia. He is a player that has produced at every level including the North American League. His skill set is going to be a game changer at the collegiate level and he is a player I can count on in any situation. Carson has great size, scoring touch and play making ability that will make him a tough matchup night in and night out. I also know I’m getting a great player coming from a great organization.”
This make the 2nd NA3HL Generals Commit in 2 weeks as last week 2 year Forward Kolye Bankauskas committed to play NCAA DIII hockey at UMASS-Boston. For a full list of Generals commitments please visit: https://generals.nahlleague.hockeytech.com/commitments
